5 Reasons To Elope Instead

Elopements have become a really popular option in the past few years. Gone are the days when eloping means dashing off to Vegas in the middle of the night to be married by an Elvis impersonator at a small little chapel. Now more than ever, couples are choosing to elope in beautiful locations around the world simply because they want to keep things more simple.

Thinking about eloping? Check out these 5 reasons why it might be a great option for you!

  1. A Big Wedding Just Doesn’t Feel Like You.

Maybe you’re not big one being the center of attention or you hate having to get dressed up. Or maybe the idea of planning a big party doesn’t sound fun to you. If you feel like you might be doing this for everyone else, instead of the 2 of you, maybe you should re-think things. After all, at the end of the day it’s about you choosing each other forever, not about having a big party.

2. Weddings Are Expensive

If what you’ve always wanted was a big wedding, by all means, go for it! But if it’s not... think of what you could do with 10, 30, even 50 thousand dollars. You could spend the money on a down payment for a home, a car, the possibilities are endless!

3. Elopements Let You Focus On What You Truly Care About

The beauty of not spending so much on a big wedding is that you can splurge on the things that really matter to you like traveling somewhere incredible for your Elopement, buying that dress you LOVE, or hiring that photograoher/videographer (hey!) that was out of budget when you have so many other things to worry about.

Planning a wedding for $10k and having it be everything you’ve ever dreamt of is very difficult, but for $10k you could have a dream Elopement somewhere incredible! You have WAY fewer vendors to pay and that means you can splurge on the ones you care a ton about.

4. Weddings Produce A Lot of Waste

Ready for some shocking numbers? The average wedding produces 400-600 lbs of trash. Multiply that by 2.3 million weddings a year and you end up with ... over 1 BILLION tons of garbage. Sure, an Elopement isn’t entirely without its impact, but even if you fly to the other side of the world you’re probably still having WAY less of an impact than the traditional wedding.

5. Destination Elopements Are Way Easier To Plan Than Destination Weddings.

If you’ve ever thought of having a destination wedding, but don’t feel like you can invite all those people to to travel around the world with you, if it’s just the two of you (and maybe a handful of fam/friends) it’s often WAY simpler and logistically easier. So find a beautiful spot in nature to say your vows, it’ll most likely be a lot simpler.
